Salt and Pepper Popcorn Chicken

Crispy, salty, peppery. What more can I ask?

Who doesn't love popcorn chicken? Crispy, salty, and juicy in every bite

My all-time favorite snack is definitely popcorn chicken. I used to eat this when I was little. I know it's not healthy but it's good for my soul. Popcorn chicken is one of the easiest menus that I've ever made. You only need less than an hour to make it. You can eat is as a snack or eat it with a bowl of steamy rice (my Asian ass can't separate with rice haha). My favorite flavor is definitely salt and pepper. So, I'm going to tell you how I make my version of Salt and Pepper Popcorn Chicken

Ingredients :
  1. 200 g of chicken breast (you can use chicken thigh if you like it juicier)
  2. Salt
  3. Pepper
  4. Sugar
  5. Garlic powder
  6. 3 tbsp of seasoned flour (it's easier to use seasoned flour, but you can use plain flour and add salt and pepper into it then mix them)
  7. 1 egg
  8. Corn starch
  9. 10 cloves of garlic
  10. 5 red chili pepper
  11. Spring onion (as much as you like)
  12. 1 tbsp of butter
Tools :
  1. Frying pan
  2. 2 bowls
  3. Plate
  4. Knife
  5. Chopping board
Directions :
  1. Wash your hands
  2. Cut the chicken to small pieces
  3. Put the chicken on the bowl, we're going to marinate them.
  4. Add 2 tsp of salt, 2 tsp of pepper, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of sugar, and 1 tbsp of corn starch to the bowl
  5. Crack the egg into the bowl. And give them a good mix
  6. Let the chicken marinated for at least 20 minutes.
  7. While the chicken is marinated, we're going to prepare the spices.
  8. Wash your chopping board, because you don't want to get your garlic contaminated
  9. Chop the garlic, chili, and spring onion finely. You want to have that tiny pieces of garlic in every bite.
  10. Melt the butter in low heat.
  11. Once the butter melted, add garlic and chili to the pan. Stir until the garlic turn to a slightly brown color. Be careful not to burn your garlic, because we want to have a sweet flavor, not a bitter flavor.
  12. Once the garlic turned to a light brown color, add the spring onion. Stir until it's cooked.
  13. Set the garlic, chili, and spring onion aside
  14. Now, we're going to fry the chicken.
  15. Prepare the bowl, pour the seasoned flour, and add 1 tbsp of corn starch (corn starch is the secret of any crispy thing). Mix them well
  16. Take the chicken out off the marinate and move them into the dry mixture bowl one by one
  17. Make sure the flour coat all of the chicken's surface.
  18. Heat up some oil in medium heat.
  19. Before you put the chicken into the oil, shake off any of flour excess
  20. Slowly put the chicken into the pan
  21. Cook until it's golden brown and crispy.
  22. Take out all of the chicken, and let them aside for a bit
  23. Using the same pan, remove the oil and heat up on low heat.
  24. Add 1 tsp of oil into the pan.
  25. Add the cooked chicken
  26. Add the cooked garlic, chili, and spring onion
  27. Add 1 tbsp of pepper and 1 tbsp of salt.
  28. Stir well
  29. Turn off the heat
  30. Your chicken is ready to serve
  31. Enjoy !!
Seriously, it will be great to eat it with a bowl of steamy rice haha
